Coaching in Health Care

Learn to coach with confidence!

Coaching in health Care is a short and powerful training series, providing the skills and confidence to use Coaching to support others grow. This could be growth in personal understanding and insight, identifying and achieving goals, or through a recovery journey.

 Who is this for?

Anyone working in RHT Looking to grow their capacity to empower others. This is relevant for clinicians, Nurses, counsellors, support or social workers, tutors and managers. Coaching is a skill anyone can use to work with people in a way that helps them find their own solutions.

Participants will:

  • Develop a clear understanding of what Coaching is and is not.
  • Learn how to apply Coaching to support recovery, self-determination, goal achievement and leadership.
  • Use Coaching safely and ethically.
  • Practice their Coaching skills and learn from others.
  • Increase their own capacity to support change, create insights and lead.

The Journey: This is a series of 6 sessions held fortnightly with resources for practicing Coaching in between.

We will start and finish with half-day face to face training. This will help you get to know the other participants in the group and help establish how to practice Coaching. Following on from this, sessions will be held online each fortnight.

Training topics:

·       The foundations of Coaching and the Coaching relationship.

·       Evidence-based Coaching theories.

·       Coaching Practice (setting you up to practice your coaching in-between sessions and getting feedback on this).

·       Powerful use of questions in support of goal attainment, motivation, and self-efficacy.

·       Legal and ethical considerations and recovery-orientated care.

·       Coaching presence (how to 'be' a coach). Coaching is not just doing to others, it’s also how we as coaches show up and the qualities of attention we bring to the session.

 Practice Coaching

Coaching is best learnt through reflecting on practice. Participants will be asked to intentionally use coaching in-between sessions and will be provided resources to help them prepare for the session, run the session and reflecting on the session.
